Vaccine Safety Datalink Study

Analysis of Associations between Thimerosal and Neurodevelopmental Outcomes Using the Vaccine Safety DataLink.
Organization: SafeMinds
Importance: Urgent
How much to fund: $4000 (partial funding)
What would be gained:
This epidemiological study will examine the Vaccine Safety DataLink to determine whether associations exist between increased doses of thimerosal from infant vaccines and childhood disorders such as autism, speech-language delay, and attention deficit disorder. The VSD is a data base of medical records from several US HMOs which has been used since 1991 by the Centers for Disease Control to monitor vaccine safety. Analyses of the VSD by the CDC in 1999-2000 found statistically significant associations between increasing thimerosal exposure and neurodevelopmental outcomes. This study seeks to confirm or refute these initial findings.
Ways to fund:
50% through Fire Sale - $2500 has been sent to SafeMinds - Thank you everyone!
