Donation in Memory of Ashley Brock

Details

Ashley Elaine Brock, age 6, died Sunday, May 18, 2008 as a result of a drowning accident.

Ashley, a daughter of Barry Edward and Michele Sporkman Brock, was born in Lexington, KY on February 7, 2002. She was in Kindergarten at Jordan Acres School in Brunswick, ME.

Ashley was a free spirit in every sense of the word and had an umlimited supply of energy. She enjoyed playing outdoors, the beach, swinging, jump roping, riding her bike or scooter, and shooting basketball on her regulation hoop. She loved bubbles, books, balloons, music, umbrellas, red wagons and painting. She regularly woke her parents in the night with the sounds of reading her dictionary or playing her Mozart cd. Ashley was never without her wildlife flash cards or a favorite book and loved all animals, especially dogs. She was a precious gift from God and the world is a better place because she was in it.

At the request of Ashley's parents, Michele and Barry Brock, donations will benefit NAA's Helping Hand Program providing financial assistance to families affected by autism.

Donation in Memory of Melissa Greenwood

Details

Melissa Greenwood was a devoted wife and loving mother of 2 wonderful boys: John Hunter (born June 21, 2002) and Ethan Jacob (born April 21, 2004). Melissa lost her life in a car accident March 26, 2007. If you had ever had the opportunity to speak with her, you would have quickly realized that her children were her pride and joy. What you probably wouldn’t have realized is that one of her children (Ethan Jacob) had been diagnosed with PDD.

To my beautiful wife this was not a burden or hardship. She gracefully taught me to accept this wonderful gift. For you see, I, like many fathers, struggled with the concept that one of our children was challenged. I worried for his future to the point that I was missing the present.

Time is a much more precious gift today than ever before. My children have lost a special gift, one that can never be replaced. As we struggle to find meaning in her death, I would hope you will be compelled by her story, touched by her smile and moved by her compassion.

A donation to this memorial fund will help other families who need financial support to obtain assistance for both the parents and children affected by Autism. My dream is for one day when the children are grown, to be able to look upon this memorial and see that in her death, she made a far more reaching impact than could ever have been imagined.

I can still hear her lovely voice in my ear: “Enjoy him like this while you can” Honey……. That’s what I’m doing. We Miss You!!

Chris, Ethan Jacob and John Hunter Greenwood

Donation in Memory of Patricia May

Details

Donation in Memory of Patricia May

Patricia May was a loving wife and mother of three daughters. She was also the proud "Meemaw" of six, including her grandson Garrett who has autism.

Patricia wanted nothing more than for her grandson to receive the best treatment possible to improve his quality of life. She gave generously of her time, money and especially her heart to her beloved Garrett.

As a remembrance of her love and devotion for her grandson, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Autism Association. A donation to this memorial fund will help other families who need financial support to obtain assistance for their children affected by autism.

It is our greatest desire that one day Garrett will look upon this memorial and know that even in death, his Meemaw continued to share her love and generosity to others.

Acknowledgments will be sent to the McDonough family.
