Can Autism be cured?  BET ON IT!

The National Autism Association proudly presents the largest charity poker tournament directed to funding autism research and family care.

You may sign up for this event by clicking here.

Autism is an out-of-control epidemic in the U.S. and many other countries.  Just fifteen years ago, autism was an extremely rare disorder, diagnosed in 1 of 10,000 children.  Today, 1 in 166 children are afflicted, with boys 4 times more likely to develop autism than girls. Autism is not solely caused by an incurable genetic defect, it must have a biological or environmental cause (and therefore a cure).  The National Autism Association (NAA) is on the forefront of directly funding scientific research that will yield the most promising and immediate treatments for autism. To help fund our efforts, we are holding a No-Limit Hold 'Em charity poker event at 7pm on November 2, 2006 at Atlantic City’s Borgata Resort Casino and Spa. The $250 event fee includes entry into the Borgata's nightly $100+$20 Poker Tournament, admission to a private “players lounge” with beer, wine, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction, and a $100 contribution to NAA.  Players will also receive special gifts made possible by donations from corporate sponsors.  Optional overnight accommodations at a special Charity Tournament rate of $129 will be available to players wishing to spend the night at the Borgata in Atlantic City.

A Non-Tournament-Players Package will be available for $130.  This package includes all of the above excluding entry into the tournament - a great option for non-poker-playing spouses and friends who want to join the fun and support the cause.

NAA Charity Poker Event Structure

Poker Tournament Buy-in and Players Lounge:  We have created a charity poker event that will appeal to both the Autism community AND the poker community.  The Tournament will follow the structure of the Borgata daily tournament and feature a $100+$20 buy-in.  A matching $100 “buy-in” will go to NAA to win the fight against autism.  Approximately 10% of players will receive cash winnings according to the Borgata's daily tournament structure, with pay-outs determined by the final number of players.

A players’ lounge will be open only to our participants at the hottest night club in Atlantic City, MIXX (just down the hall from the Borgata poker room).  The lounge will be used for day-of-event sign-up, pre-tournament socializing, a party space for “early-outs” and an awards ceremony for the winners at the conclusion of the tournament.  It will also provide an opportunity for participants to learn more about the NAA.   The players lounge will feature:

  • Event sign-up table

  • NAA information booth

  • Hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine included (cash bar available)

  • Silent Auction table

  • Presentation of cash awards to winners (any winners choosing to donate their winnings to NAA will be gratefully acknowledged and honored by the NAA)

  • Live music by Witzend

Overnight Accommodations:

Participants in the NAA Charity Poker Tournament can stay overnight at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa at a special room rate of $129 per night.  Check-in is November 2, 2006 and check-out is November 3, 2006.  To reserve your room at this rate, call the Borgata at 866-MY-BORGATA - 866-692-6742 and give them the group code of GABC2K6.  You must make your reservation by October 23rd to secure this special discounted room rate.

Participant Sign-up:

You may sign up for the event in advance by clicking here, or at our sign-up table at MIXX on the day of the tournament.  NAA will collect the full $250 event fee from each participant, give them an admission badge to the players lounge, and refer the player to Borgata staff for tournament registration.  Borgata personnel will issue Players Cards and a $100+$20 tournament voucher to each player.

NAA is pleased to announce that Oxy Health Corporation has gone "all-in" to sponsor this event. We are so very grateful for their support!
