I remember your laughter,
your smile and your joy
I remember your curiosity,
my precious baby boy

You started out so healthy
so vibrant...so strong
Growing as you should be
...then Autism came along

It took a piece of your being
It took a piece of my soul
Imprisoning you within your tiny body
No longer completely whole

Where did you withdraw to?
To where did you flee?
I miss you so much my precious child
and I wonder...if you, also, miss me

This poem was written to show some of the anguish parents feel when they're healthy young child is suddenly overcome by Autism. Autism is a neurological disorder that has currently reached epidemic proportions in our children world wide.
