HOW YOU CAN HELP.

CASH

This type of gift provides a federal income tax charitable deduction if you itemize deductions
on your federal income tax return. The maximum amount of charitable deductions you may claim in any one year is limited to 50% of your adjusted gross income. If you have an unused balance, the unused deduction can be taken in up to five succeeding years.

MATCHING DONATIONS

Many companies will match donations made by their employees. Please review your company’s policy to see if your gift to NAA qualifies for a matching donation.

STOCKS AND BONDS

Appreciated stocks and bonds are a popular way to make a donation. Making a gift of securities is both simple and tax-effective.

BEQUESTS

Many donors find that a testamentary gift is a way to make a significant contribution to NAA.

BEQUEST OPTIONS
• A cash bequest provides NAA with a predetermined dollar amount.
• A residuary bequest provides NAA with all or a percentage of the remainder of your estate
after the payment of any specific bequests and all estate-related expenses.
• A testamentary Charitable Remainder Trust provides one or more heirs with a lifetime income payment, after which the assets pass to NAA.
• A bequest of property provides NAA with specific assets, such as securities, an interest in
real estate or tangible personal property.
• If you participate in a qualified retirement plan, NAA may be designated as a beneficiary of
the remainder of your Keogh, tax-sheltered annuity, IRA, profit-sharing plan or qualified pension. Given the high rate of double taxation that occurs on retirement plan assets for individuals with taxable estates, the designation of NAA can be a very tax-effective means of making a charitable gift.

SIGNIFICANT TAX BENEFITS
For federal estate tax purposes, a bequest is deductible and there is no limit on the amount of the estate tax charitable deduction. With estate tax rates ranging from 37% to 55% for taxable estates, significant savings can be achieved through even a modest bequest for NAA. In addition, charitable bequests are generally not subject to state inheritance or state estate taxes.

HOW TO MAKE A BEQUEST

You can make a bequest to NAA by creating a new will, adding a codicil to your present will, or including NAA in your revocable trust.

EXAMPLES OF BEQUEST LANGUAGE

• To make an unrestricted bequest, we recommend the following:

“I hereby give (all, residue and remainder of my estate) or (____ dollars) to NAA, inc. in
Marion, South Carolina, for its use in fulfilling its charitable purposes.”

• To make a bequest with an intention to establish an endowment, we recommend the following:

“I give (all, residue and remainder of my estate) or (____ dollars) to NAA, Inc. in Marion,
South Carolina, the income only to be used for the following purpose: (include purpose). If, at some time in the future, it is the opinion of the Board of Directors of NAA that all or part of the income of this fund cannot be effectively applied to the purpose outlined above, the Board of Directors of NAA may use such income for any charitable purpose that will, in the Board of Directors’ discretion, most closely accomplish my purposes as expressed in this my last Will and Testament.”
